I Miss The One I Love

Romans 5:8(KJV) 8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God is love! That ought to frost your flakes; that ought to honk your horn; that ought to butter your bread; that ought to mow your lawn… God is LOVE! It just doesn’t get any better than that.

John 3:16 (KJV) 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Recently I have thought to compare the love God has for the world with the love God has for His church. I have concluded that God is love. No matter what - God loves me, God loves you, God loves everyone. However, there is something about God’s love for His church that is noteworthy.

Ephesians 5:25, 31-32 (KJV) 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it… 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

I have been traveling in Scotland and I’ve been away from my family and friends for about one week. I cannot wait to see my loved-ones. However, my desire to see my wife surpasses my affection for any other person that I am missing while I am away.

Perhaps there is something about the relationship that Jesus has with His bride (the church) that is significant. It’s not that God loves the world less than He loves His church. It’s just that those that have become a part of His church (His Bride) enjoy a sacred connection with Him.

1 John 2:15 (KJV) 15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

How does God’s love for the Church compare with God’s love for the world? It is not the amount of love God gives; it is the amount of love we are able to receive.

I miss the one I love and it’s only been one week. How long has Jesus been missing you?

1 John 3:1(KJV) 1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
