Please Protect Your Preacher

Romans 10:13 - 14 (KJV) 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Our generation often underestimates the value of the preacher. Perhaps because preachers are human, perhaps because preachers make mistakes, perhaps because some preachers fail - many people fail to appreciate the purpose of preaching in God’s grand design for New Testament Christians.

Of course our lack of appreciation for preaching does nothing to change the high regard that God has for the role of the preacher in His plan for His people.

1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV) 18For the PREACHING of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV) 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of PREACHING to save them that believe.

Take time today to pray for your preacher. Pray that he always remain passionate about preaching the Word of God without fear and without favor. Pray also for your own passion for your preacher. People that diminish their desire for preaching eventually loose their love for truth.

Your preacher provides the accountability that protects you from self-deception, so please protect your preacher. If you maintain a proper respect for preaching and an appropriate relationship with your preacher, you will have access to timely direction from God that will keep your steps ordered by the Word of the Lord.

Titus 1:2 - 4 (KJV) 2In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised BEFORE the world began; 3But hath in due times (AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME) manifested his word through PREACHING, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
